01 To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). In a large Bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
02 In another Bowl, dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add to the batter along with the salt. Next, stir in the flour and chocolate chips. Using a large spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter onto ungreased Baking Pans.
03 Bake for around 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
